Very Happy with TO-30 Engine so far!! Picts

Well did a Cold Compression test 110 lbs all cylinders. Warmed up to operating temp, re/took the test and had 125 lbs in 3 cyls and 130 lbs in one! So I pulled the Head to take a look inside and it was a standard bore with a little ridge but no scores or signs of over heating. The head looks like it had just been rebuilt cause all the valves look new with new springs and no wear on top of the valve tops or rockers. The head was still not painted and is bare metal. Next thing to do is pull the pan and inspect the bearing just to be safe. Mark H.

I'm a bit jealous, I tore into my engine last year thinking I just needed rings, and maybe some valve work. It ran fine, but burned oil and had ~80# compression. I found cracks between the cylinders, broken rings, damaged pistons, and damaged bearing shells. My ring job turned into a full blown rebuild.... cost a LOT more than I had planned... the wife still reminds me of that once in a while. Had fun doing it though, kept me out of trouble for a while.

How did you get your pistons and studs so shiny? Did you buff them, or paint them or something?
