i just bought a sleeve/piston kit for my to30 that was manufactured by tisco. my question is, there are know markings on the head of the pistons to know which direction to put them in the cylinder(mark to face piston forward in the cylinder). has anyone else run across this or am i to assume that it doesn't matter which way the piston faces?

I bought TO-20 rebuilt kit last year, it was a Tisco set. I know the pistons are a hair smaller on the TO-20, but I'm guessing your pistons will be similar. My pistons had a notch on the top of the piston to indicate the front direction. Of course, this wasn't pointed out in any info with the kit,I had to figure it out on my own.

I think figured it out by looking at which way the oil spray holes where aligned. They are suppose to face a certain direction... towards the canshaft maybe... don't remember now. When I matched-up the oil spray holes to the old piston, I was able to figure out that notch on top meant towards the front.
Hope this helps.
Got your old sleeves out yet? Getting the old sleeves out was the hardest part for me, after that, it was all down hill.
