Repaired,still no hydraulics

While using my bushog I lost all hydraulics. I drug it into the barn and tore down my TO20 and found it had a TO30 pump in it. Tore the pump down and cleaned the valves,replaced the safty valve and put the control valve back together. The snap ring had come off. I did not take the part of the pump out that pumps the fluid or remove the valve housings from the sides but I did clean the valves.
I put new rings on the piston, the cylinder looked ok, and checked the tube.
Put it all back together with new gaskets, and still does nothing.

I'm not sure I got the yolk assembly that moves the control valve back together right. The finger tip lever doesn't feel right and wants to spring back when pushed down. The control valve looked like it only moved about 3/4 inch when I moved the lever when looked at it while putting it back together.

I have manuals but the pictures don't show very well how the assembly that goes around the pto and drive shaft and hooks onto the control valve is to be put together. Which way the slant of the parts should go, toward the front or the rear. I suspect I have it on wrong. Or if it is an air lock, how do I get rid of it.
Sure would like some help here, I spent a lot of time, money and effort to just end up with the same problem. Thanks for any help.

That was the problem. I had put the lower part of the yolk on backwards and it wouldn't operate the control valve properly. All works ok but I still have to adjust the quadrant. THANKS to everyone who offered help. This is a great site.
By the way. I have a Zane thang and it sure makes life easier. LDT in Ohio

Thanks for all of your help. I have done all of what you mentioned except Zane. After looking in the side of the tractor to see if I could detect a hydraulic problem and saw that the pump was working ok. I shut it off and reached down to the control valve and moved the lever and noticed the valve moved very little. I took the yolk assembly off at the pins and moved the valve and it moved a lot. I then took the contol valve off, removed the lift arm assembly again and turned the yolk assembly around and re-assembled it all. Forgot to mention that while I first had the side open, and the pto and pump running I took a long screwdriver and pushed the arms of the yolk toward the front of the tractor and the lift arms came up.
I have yet to connect the spring from the yolk to the front of the cylinder that pulls it back but the finger tip lever works as it should now.
My brother is going to help me get that spring on to the cylinder because it keeps slipping in my hand and I can't get it hooked by myself through those little holes. I believe that after I get that hooked and the thing closed up that it will work ok. I'll let you all know. Sort of stupid I know, putting the yolk on backwards but its my first attempt at any tractor repair and the photo was really bad. LDT in Ohio

Did you try repositioning your quadrant? Loosen the four bolts and slide forward a little at the time, tighten and try it. Keep repeating if no results the first time. If you get results, then adjust quadrant according to specs in your manual. Lol.

I failed to mention that if the hand control fork assembly is not moving, it is most likely binding or the quadrant shaft is too far back to make contact with the hand control fork. I am no x-pert by any means but, I just finished with mine. It was doing basically the same thing. My hand control fork was worn completely out and busted. Zane is much more knowledgeable than I am with hydraulics. Contact him if this doesn't work..... ..... ...

UPDATE: I took the dip stick cover off the tractor, a little fluid ran out and I started the tractor and engaged the pto then watched the fluid. It rolled a little above the pump and more fluid came out of the inspection hole.
I turned off the tractor and reached down to the control valve and moved the quadrant lever and the linkage seemed to move a little but mostly up and down. I pushed on the control valve and it travels in and out by hand but when I use the lever it hardly moves at all. The spring hooked to the cylinder pulls it back each time I push it in with my hand. I seems as though the lever isn"t doing much. I think it is hooked up wrong somehow but don"t know what to do to check it or fix it. Sure would like some advice as to what I may have done wrong and how to fix it.

Look for Zane Sherman. Often you can find him on the Ford 9N - 8N board. He usually can grasp hydraulic problems quicker than most of us.
