I've got a TO 20, but no serial number. The engine number is 109146. The casting date under the seat is 4-4-49. The date on the M-S carb is 2-49. Is there anyway to get the actual TO serial number. I've heard that someone has a cross manufacturing book that will give me the number. Thanks. Mike

Mike,
I've got the same problem with my TO-20 that I bought this past October. The engine number on it is 110131. Hopefully we can find an owner out there that has engine numbers very close to ours so we can make a closer estimate. IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO HAS A TO-20 WITH ENGINE SERIAL NUMBERS VERY CLOSE TO THESE, SAY GIVE OR TAKE 5? Your help would be muchly appreciated.

Mike M.

I mailed you earlier to check the prefix letters of the number and to check what the gearbox housing was made of..is it aluminum or cast iron. Cast Iron is TO20/30 and aluminum is TE/A. I don't know where you got that from about the book though. I have in my possession at this time a copy of the only list that exists for TE type tractors and it is far from complete and there is no possible way to sort out engine numbers to tractor numbers as the engines were randomly picked and fitted on production so they didn't run in any series. You must remember that they were made over 50 years ago and everything was done manually not as easy or organized as a computer. If you let us know that information I will try again for you, but don't hold your breath as it could be guesswork in the end.
