TO35 in Beige?

I was flipping through the photos on this site and saw this picture. One of the comments said that baige was used one year only on TO35's. Is that correct? My TO35 no longer has it's s/n plate so I am not sure what year it is but I have noticed that under the hood there is a very light beige color that I always figured to be either factor primer or some color that someone else had painted it at one time. Today it's red and gray.

Ed,

I own a 1957 TO-35 and the color is Beige. It posted in the pics. Theres a dalmation walking next to it. Thar you go!

The TO-35s were beige & flint gray from the spring of 1956 until December of 1957 when they became red & flint gray. A few early ones in the spring of '56 were beige/green (as were a few F-40s). There were few of them. But yes, yours is most likely one of them. Scratch the castings and see if there was any green there.

Log onto the following site, then e-mail them with your engine SN and ask them to tell you the exact date the Z134 Continental engine was built and shipped to MF. That will give you a pretty good idea of when the tractor was built.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the info. I have tried to e-mail those folks with my engine serial # before and they never replied but I'll give it another try.

I think its pretty intresting all of the little details involved in these tractors. If this proves out it just adds to this tractors personality.

My TO35 has a Continental 4cyl Gas Engine serial # Z134A500P incase you have any other way to find out. I'll e-mail those folk right now.

Ed, the number you gave is the casting number. Please post the engine SN that is on the engine SN tag (left side near distributor. It should have a six digit number after the Z134. Once you post the number I will try and get the information for you as I know the fellow.

Well it looks like there's another tag I am missing. I don't recall any tags on this engine but I am at work right now so when I get home I'll take a look.

Why on earth didn't they just stamp the s/n's into the castings some where. I know components can be changed but at least it would have given you an idea. They could have stamped the three main sections with there own number and the comleted tractor number. It's just so dam aggrevating.

Beige TO-35 for one year ? I would say in 1957, and less than one year, probably very few units, as I wrote earlier, I remember a TO-35 that was beige and green(first TO-35 were gray and green)

Hey there Ed, according to the info I have the TE-20/TO-20/TO-30,s were all ferguson grey. The early TO-35,s were grey and green after 1958 they were MF red and grey. In the UK, FE-35's were grey and gold, F-40's were beige and flint metalic grey, experimental F-40's were grey and green. After the merge was complete, MF tractors were red and grey.
