TO-20 Rear main seal

Does anyone know if the rear main seal on a TO-20 is a 1 piece or 2 piece seal. I am hoping to try replacing without splitting. I think I'm just getting tired of having to split every tractor i get, then again i should just stop picking up tractors i have seen setting in the same spot for 3-5 yrs...

Scott I have completly gone through my TO-30 and the manual is a must have tool. If you replace the engine seal I would replace the transmission front seal also. Leave the tranmission shaft out so you can use it to line up the clutch and pressure plate. Check the pilot bearing in the flywheel and grease it. Then install the shaft back in the transmission and it was not much of a problem to stab the engine back together. Oh! You will have to remove the brake shaft also before you can get the tranmission shaft out. Dave

Quote from the Manual..... ..... "Crankshaft rear oil seal is contained in a one piece retainer and serviced only as an assembly. To renew the seal, first separate the engine from the transmission case and remove the pan and flywheel. Remove the three seal retainer to crankcase cap screws and the two seal retainer to rear main bearing retaining cap screws."... Dave
