My fergies engine.

when ever you turn on the PTO the engine always starts to rev up alot.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

If I read the problem correctly...the motor runs faster when the PTO is engaged, can I presume that it slows down again when you either use the clutch or disengage the PTO? If this is so, I would think you have drag on the pump (again presuming nothing is attached to the PTO). There is nothing else attached, the PTO runs thru the pump and just hangs there waiting. The speed increase indicates to me that the gov. system is working and compensating for the load, whatever that is. Does the pump work OK, any problems with any other system, noise? good luck
