What would be the advantage of having a TO30 over my TO 20? Have a chance to by one at auction this weekend here in TX.

The external oil filter is the big difference. A spin on filter kit is now available. Have one on my 35, its great. Plus a few more hp.

As George said, the Continental Z129 has more horsepower due to 9 cubic inches in displacement relative to the Z120, bigger intake valves and a slightly different cam. I has a slightly different governor housing, the external oil filter, and a little spacer on the right hand side where the front of the engine bolts to the front axle carrier. Since it has the bigger intake valves, the heads are not interchangeable, but some of the valve train parts are. The rest of the chasis is virtually the same. This is probably more than you want to know.

I got to looking in the parts manual to answer a question above and I see the rear axle is not the same between the two models. there maybe more than that also.

if it has the different back end it will have the uprated hydraulics too. Heavier duty diff.

The TO-30 is the same basic tractor frame, and operation. It has a few more HP under the hood, I doubt you could really tell the difference in power though. I think the TO-30 has an external oil filter instead of the "in the oil pan" filter like the TO-20. Having a TO-20, I wish I had the external oil filter.
