Rocker arm valve adjust nuts, Where purchase

I have a 1950 Ferguson TO20. Had a local machine shop to rebuild the head. I noticed the valve adjustment nuts shoulders were beginning to round. Now would be a good time to replace the nuts. The nuts the machine shop called one half nuts. He did not stock the nuts and could not tell me where to purchase.

Anyone know where I can purchase the 1/2 half nuts for the valve rocker arm valve adjustments.

Wayne, I think those are just regular 'ol hex locknuts, might take a 1/2 " wrench to turn'em. Hardware store should have'em. Don't know that you need grade 5 or 8 unless you just want them, you just torque'em down with an open end wrench. When you adjust your valves, you can do the cold and hot adjustement like the manual says.... if you like wasting your time and making a mess. All you really need to do is the cold adjustment... .0015" I think it is. Turn the engine a couple times by hand and recheck'em to make sure they are good and move on.

Metric or fractional? Probably 5/16-24. Try McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com) Hex thin (Jam) nuts. Grade 8, 93839A810. $13.8 per hundred. Or grade 5, 94846A510 for $6.35 per hundred. Good hardware stores may have them if you look through their nut assortments. They also have metric. Grade 8 will be the hardest.
