Just putting the finishing touch on my rebuild by putting on the valve cover and noticed the gasket is still loose after torquing down the nuts. It appears the cover is bowed up in the middle. Is this common? I am thinking I could change it to a (4) stud fastening sytem and try to clamp the middle down. Any suggestions? Anyone have a good valve cover?

Hello Mark,I am parting out a TO-20 on ebay within the next week and I will be listing a good straight valve cover if you are in need of one along with many other TO-20 parts. You will be able to find them at the following link.

Yeah, my cover seems a bit warped in the middle too. The gasket was popping out from under the cover on the breather tube side.
When I rebuilt the engine, I used some silicone gasket maker to glue the gasket to the valve cover and fill gap a little to get a nice straight gasket. No silicone on the block side of the gasket. Works good.
