I read the response to the person asking for the year of a TO 3551. My guess is he was referring to the HF 3551 on the cast iron case for the steering column, a number I also have.
On the other hand on the 2 x 3 inch dash board plate behind the steering wheel on the upper left is a TO with nothing after it with SER below it followed by the number 24602. Below the 24602 are patent numbers up through 1948.
The plate on the gas engine is less easily read. It has the number 124168. Under the number and to the right are the numbers 20 and 30. The information before each can not be read.
I'm inclined to think I have a 1950 TO-20 can anyone confirm this? While replacing the starter, I removed the distributor. Since the gap settings and timing relative to TDC differ for TO-20 and TO-35 I need to know what I have. Thanks

Thank you Duner Wi. I've just returned from a long trudge to the field where the tractor sits. There is no external oil filter, just a large round plate on the bottom of the oil pan. My neighbor to whom it belongs was of the belief it was a T0-35 so new knowledge may help us keep the work horse going. Thanks.

If it has a 4 speed transmission with START to the right and foward on the shift lever and the hood tilts foward to add gas then it sounds like a TO 20 to me.

Yes to 4 speeds
Yes to start far right and forward; reverse far right rearward.
The engine cover has a hole in the top through which the tube to the gas tank extends. I don't believe the tube and extension and hole in the cover were jury rigs by some previous owner.
The long engine cover is held down with four clips. It is not hinged but must be lifted off.

Your tin work is a mystery to me. However the engine and chassis I think are TO 20. To 20's had a tilt foward hood to add gas, this caused problems when a front end loader was installed. Also the brake for left wheel is on the left side of tractor and the right wheel brake on right side. Had a seperate pedal for both wheel braking at same time on right side . Maybe someone else has an idea. Good luck!

Your chassis Serial and engine serial lead to believe it is a 1950 TO 20. with the Z120 Contineltal gas engine. The Z 120 had the oil flter in the bottom of the oil pan. TO 30 and TO 35 had the oil filter relocated to the out side of the engine.
