I have a TO-35 that I believe to be a 1957 model. Would this have been 12V from the factory? If not, what year did the change from 6V to 12V occur? Thanks, RonW

Yes, the change from a 6v to a 12v electrical system occurred at SN 161,250, except for 300 Standard (Gas Special) models SN 163,533 163,832) that were equipped with 6v systems.

This information came from Memo #56-3, dated 3/12/56 from a Ferguson distributor, Farm Supply, Inc., to its dealers.

The TO35 was fitted with the 12v system from serial number 161250 which was produced in 1955 so check your serial number against that one.

From the Neihoff Catalog for parts the Delco electrics changed from 6 to 12 volt during 1955 for the 35. Does not give a serial # break.

Well, for the TE series it was at #200,000, which bugs me because mine is just prior to that, and is a April '51 registration. In '52 they started at #241,xxx, so the changeover for the TE was late '51.

For yours, I would guess the changeover would be at about the same time - if it had been me at the factory, I would have made the switch a rolling change across all lines, so retaining the commonality of parts across models.

Of course, someone out there who knows 35s inside and out may be able to come up with a more accurate date, but yes, I would say yours has always been 12V.
