I paid $3500 for a MF-65 that was not running (cranked great) under the contingency that I could get it started. (The seller wanted $4000, I used the fact that it was not running to nock $500 off.)

Negociate the price down and put (after all if it does not start, how do the hydrolics work, does that loader work etc...

If the motor cranks then it is just fuel, air and spark. In my case I had good spark and just had to clean the air filter cup, and the carb. The card was so varnished up it had to be removed and taken apart.

Give it an afternoon of tinkering and if you get it started and the hydraulics work good then you got a good deal. If you can't get it going then you can walk away knowing you did not have a deal.

It depends on where you live as to the value of used tractors. No matter where you live $2500 for a not running tractor is to much. Check out tractor values under Research & Info to you left. I paid $3000 for my to35 that runs great with brush hog and back blade in SW Michigan. Good luck.

I bought a 1961 MF35 a few weeks ago. It wasn't running but with points, condensor and a little work on the carb I had it running. Price $900.00 I don't intend to think that I would be able to find very many at that price though. Did the owner indicate what was wrong with it? How long has it been sitting? Is it a Standard or Deluxe model? What is the sheet metal like? How are the tires? I would think that if all is not too bad, $1,800.00 for a non runner is still plenty.

The deal was even better than that. I bought a 1949 TO 20 and this MF35 about 80 miles from home for $1,800.00 for both of them. The Ferguson has a bad governor, otherwise in pretty good shape. All I had to do is put a battery in it to make it run. The MF35 took a little more time but so far I haven't found anything major wrong with it. Both are fixer uppers but that is what I was looking for.
