What are the specs involved in piston valve adjustment on a 53 Ferguson TO-30

I checked my valves cold & hot, according to the manual, when I got my TO back in '99. Rebuilt the engine last Winter and checked valves cold & hot again with the rebuild. Both times, if the cold gap was right, the hot gap was right. I've concluded the hot gap is pretty much a waste of time and just makes a mess... unless you just want to do it for fun. .0015 cold gap,like the other guys said,(that's room temp, not below zero for our Northern freinds), turn the engine a time or two and recheck to make sure you got'em right, and you will be good.

My Ferguson Shop Manual says to set them at 0.015" cold and 0.013 hot.

I set all to 0.015" cold. The shop manual says to set them to 0.012" hot, but That's a hassle when time is also a factor. If they are somewhat loose you'll have the familar clacking, if you get them too tight you will have starting difficulty.
