About two weeks ago I ask how do I get the oil filter out of my TE-20, several of you responsed.
Thanks very much.I tryed everything, then I removed the oil pan. The engine had been rebuilt
several years ago. They put the filter in the can then put the can upside down in the oil pan. needless to say I could not get the filter out.
I'll be putting it together this weekend with a new filter.

Same thing happened to me. 1st time I went to change the filter, couldn't get that screen out, it was jambed-in upside down. Had to drop the pan to get it out. I wondered how it was able to pump oil the way it was jambed in there up to the suction pipe.

Get one of those springs that suppose to go above the filter, your probably missing that since it was installed backwards. Springs are cheap, a couple bucks at the parts store.

If you still have the pan off, that oil pump is easy access. Check that relief valve on the pump, don't need to drop the pump to check it. When I checked my relief valve it was eroded so bad it was just letting oil squirt right past the relief valve plunger. The relief is just held in with a cotter pin.

Since you"ve got the oil pan off, check the oil pump to see if it looks like it was rebuilt also.
If not, buy the kit and rebuild it also.
When I purchased my TE20, it had an inoperable oil pressure gage so I installed new one and was immediately shocked to see that my oil pressure dropped to practically zero at idle once it warmed up. New straight 40w oil & filter didn"t change it much either.
I was able to get an oil pump rebuild kit pretty cheap for around $20. It came with two new gears, the gasket and new pressure relief valve & spring. The pressure now runs around 30 psi cold and drops to around 15-20 once it warms up, even at idle.
