Has anyone had a problem with replacement radiators? Replacements neck has more a downward angle, does not line up with water pumps and interferes with support rod. Original shroud is close to upper inlet hose .Can I run without the shroud? Replacement radiator made in Turkey go figure

The shroud or cowling was fitted to make the fan more efficient and cool it better, its better with the cowling.

John I assume it would get a greater cooling with shroud. The only way I could use the replacement radiator, with original shroud would be to us a 6" flexable upper hose. (With out thermostat) and fabricating a new support rod which would be longer. Rod would have to be straight under tool tray than 45 degrees up to catch ,radiator support tab. Whats your opinion ? P.S. replacement rad 145$ US to a recore of 375$ on my original Thanks John

You would get greater cooling with the shroud that is why they fit it.If you have to run without a thermostat the engine will never get warm and soon wear out. I think it would cost a great deal more in the long run by using the cheaper radiator, but I can see where you are coming from on that. Seems an awful lot for a recore, have you tried around others. Seems more like the price of a new one to me but I may be getting confused because the price is dollars and I am used to pounds. I should wait and see what the other guys on here can find for you before you do aything I am sure they will point you in the right direction.
