Try www.philbingroup.com or [email protected]. They rebuilt my Delco distributor for $100 plus shipping and that included a new shaft and bushing. As I said previously, I don't have any instructions in my factory manual for installing the distributor the way your post says. I install and time mine as follows:
Remove the spark pugs and crank the engine over til the #1 piston is on its compression stroke. Look at the timing mark and, using a wrench on the crank nut, rotate til the timing mark lines up at 6 deg BTDC (Before Top Dead Center). Note where the #1 plug wire enters the distributor cap. The rotor should be pointing to that terminal. If it isn't rotate the distributor by hand until it is. You may have to remove it and replace it to get that to occur. After you accomplish this, tighten down the distributor hold down lightly. Take the #1 plug wire, put a paper clip in it and set near a good ground.Turn on the ignition and slowly rotate the distributor by hand til the you hear the "zap" of the spark firing. (You may have to rotate in each direction.) At the point the spark fires, you are staically timed. You may have to do it several times to get it right. When you do, tighten down the distributor, put the plugs back in and attach the high tension wires. Start the tractor and check the timing with a timing light. The timing vs rpm is at follows: 400rpm, 6 deg; 1000 rpm,16 deg; 1500 rpm, 23 deg.At 2000 rpm, your timing should be at 32 degrees BTDC if your advance is working properly. Hope this helps you.
