TO-30 Hydraulics Failure

Hello,

The hydraulics failed suddenly on my TO-30. Was in the middle of mowing with a brush hog and suddenly I could not raise or lower the 3-point.

I am not a hydraulic expert. Is there anything to look at and/or check before I take it in and have the shop look at it? I did check the trans fluid and it is fine.

Ken, I'm no hydraulic expert either, I refer you to this quality web site about 8N's. The hydraulics and PTO on the N are basically copied from the Fergy, it is pretty much all the same thing. There are a couple other web sites about hydraulic repairs for Fergies. I don't have them on this computer. Do a search in the archives, or scan backwards through previous posts and you will see some other posts on hydraulics.

I am sure you checked your oil. In my opinion, I think the linkage has slipped off of your control valve spool going into your hydraulic pump. Or worse your control spool is stuck or broken. You can check this out by removing the side plates and look or feel down the spool. It is a tee piece that connects to the adjusting arms. A shop manual showing you this would be a big help.
