Was told that the PTO (rear axial, trasmission oil) is M-1103. Is there an equivalent substitute?

GL-1 gear oil is the closest thing to the original mineral oil specified for your TO, and is what most guys use, and recommend. GL-3 gear oil will work if you can't find GL-1 in your area. Some guys say the GL-3 is hard on brass or bronze parts though. GL-1 is usually a couple bucks cheaper than GL-3 anyway. Don't use that thin, universal tractor hydraulic oil stuff that TSC and other sell, that ain't the right stuff, you want GL-1 gear oil.

You can get GL-1 gear oil from most TSC, NAPA, and other places as well. I don't have the part numbers for them, depending on your local NAPA, they may not have it on the shelf, but they can get it for you.

You can look back through the archives or previous posts for more discussion, and part numbers if you need them. A guy named Jeff on this forum has had quite a few good posts on tranny oil part numbers and sources for GL-1.

Good Luck
