A dear friend of mine just purchased a US made 35 year 1960 and finds that the bolts which attach to the exhaust manifold don't seem to fit sae or metric wrenches the closest being a 17mm metric. Could these be Whitworth? Please Email me as Bob is not yet on line and this is my first communication into the void of the net. Thanks Scotty

Bolts and nuts sometimes shrink when subjected to extreme heat such as with exhaust manifolds. I have used the tightest socket possible, gently driving it in place with a hammer if necessary. Also using penetrating oil and or the heat from a torch may help start the process. I've never found it to be easy. Good luck.
