I bought a box blade scraper today not sure i like

6ft. has 6 scarifiers ways about 400 pounds all it does is tear up the yard,the 6 teeth dig in ground tares yard up,the box part doesn't really seem to do anything it digs yard up about 3 inches deep or so,I guess tomorrow i will use my rake and smooth it all out,is this all the scraper does or am i doing something wrong? it doesn't seem to level very well,just loosens up the ground,now i can rake it better cause the dirt is all loose, am i doing something wrong or is this all it does?

I had some time to use the box scraper,love it,learn some tricks as i go,does just what i want it to do,was using rake for leveling,not so easy,box blade is nice,thanks TO35 for the advice.

Rusty Nut, To level When using the box scraper your scarfing teeth should be up and out of the way unless your moving hard but turned soil.I opt to harrow grassy soil before leveling and moving dirt with a box blade. To cut with just the box shorten your top link till the front scraper blade digs, for real hard soil run your scarfing teeth down till the tip of the teeth dig in the soil that will help bust up tough soil and fill the box for leveling quicker. I never move my top link on my TO35 over 6 inches for full cut to all the way off for full leveling. That should get you in the ball park some tractors might need a little more adjustment one way or the other.
My box scraper is an older woods brand 5ft and weighs 575lbs. Hopes this helps Best wishes To35
