Chris, your generator output is controlled by the voltage regulator by varying the resistance to ground of the Field terminal. You can check you generator by running the engine ~1/2 speed and jumping the generator F terminal straight to ground, and checking the volts across the battery. A good generator should kick-up to ~7-8 volts when you ground the F term.
A lot of times charging problems are just dirty connections or poor grounds. The V.regulator needs a good ground, and the battery cable to the back of the dash should be checked.
I recommend cleaning your connections first to see if that helps. If not, try jumping the generator F term. to ground. If the generator works OK, and your connections are all clean, your regulator is probably bad. good luck.

The articles section contains one explaining how to check these componets without disconnecting them. Have you tried repolarizing the generator yet? Have you rechecked all terminals and wiring for continuity and resistance?
