Probably a stupid question, but if the hydraulics only work on my "new" TEA when the pto is engaged, is there a way to pick up and move implements without them operating. i.e. have the sickle bar not running while picking up and moving to another field or spot? :::puzzled look:::

I've sometimes put the PTO in "ground drive" when moving things. The PTO still turns, but not nearly as fast. But it's fast enough to keep the 3 point hitch up while you're travelling.

NO you have to run them to lift them. pto and HYD.pump run off the same shaft so if one works both work

You could leave the pto shaft disconnected, if you can tie it off to the frame of the implement with a bungee cord or so.
Or, raise it, turn off the pto and drive away, but then your hydraulics have to be pretty good or the implement will drift down.
More often I wrestle the implement on to the carryall and move it that way.

After a couple of embarassing dents in the roads round here after disengaging the PTO and relying on the hydraulics to keep implements up, I now disconnect the PTO shaft, and use baler twine to keep the shaft out of harm's way.

We had a top link that had notched bars bolted to it. Our sickle bar mower and the grain drill had a short chain with a hook that slipped over the top link. This setup controlled the depth of the drill and would hold the mower in the up position for transport. and yes we would disconnect the pto for transport.

I have a big crankshaft driven vane pump on the front of mine for the loader. I have often thought of plumbing it in to the tractor hydraulic circuit to create my own fergy live hydraulics. I just haven't gotten around to researching whether it will work.
