I bought my TO 30 from after it had been siting for two years from a woman whose husband had passed away and she had loaned it out to someone to use. After checking that there was no water in the oil and the hydralic oil looked good I put most of a container of marvel mystery oil down each cylinder and let it soak over night. The next day I replaced the cork gasket on the strainer site bowl, put in gas and a new battery. A few tries and a shot of gas down a cylinder and it has been running since.

Good luck with yours.

I've heard stories of tractors that sat that long that just needed fresh gas, a quick cleaning of the carb, and a jump start. Also heard stories where the pistons were soaked in oil for a month and still had to be beat out with a sledge hammer.
Like the other guys say, hard to say what your getting into... until you get into it! Buddy of mine was just "given" a J.D. A that has been sitting outside for at least 10 years. It's all grown over with weeds, full of yellowjackets, The carb is cracked, tires are flat, and who knows what else.... He's thrilled!

Hi Jeremy, like I said in my previous post...how much "work on" do you want to do? I would remove the spark plugs and make a mixture of marvel mystery oil and PB Blaster, pour it in the cylinders. Let it sit for a couple of days and try to turn it over. You'll have to at least wire up the starter so it'll turn over the engine. The starter will apply more torque than any other method. If no luck, apply mixture and repeat process. This will usually, eventually free the engine, but you have no way of knowing what damage the siezed rings have done to the cylinder walls. Good luck, have fun if you choose this project. Be ready to use lots of patience.

Lots of patience yes but lets not forget.LOTS OF MONEY!!!
I restored one to-30 and will do no more. If you restore one of these old machines you better hold on to it for life because you'll never get your money out of it. Ive got almost 6 grand in mine and its still just an old tractor I could have bought a more up to date Kibota with all the bells and whistles for the same price. And yes Kibota is a good tractor. I suppose it all depends on what you want in a tractor. But for me the romance is all over...

Depends on the general state of the engine, has it got water in the cylinders, are the valves stuck, you may put fresh fuel in it and it will start right up, then again you may have to do everything...no hard and fast rules here.
