Well, The lights on the TE-20 were the project last weekend. I got the housing painted, and cut new wires. I made a new wire conduit to the front out of a brakeline. I had to put wire in grounding wires because the circuit was bad using the frame as origionally intended. I was able to wire the grounding wires to the conduit mounting screw on the frame, at the base of the radiator.

Front lights work great.

However the backs are still not working. I ran 1/4"id copper pipe as a conduit to the rear and used a "T" connection to run it to the two fenders. I have power wires running to each fender but thought I could ground to the light bracket mounting screw, as it seamed to mount to the frame good.... Wrong. My circuit is still open. it looks like I'll have to run a ground cable from both fenders... The only question is how far back doe it need to go? I'll have to experiment to see.

Though not origional, that nice shiny copper does look good. Particularly after it gets painted Gray.

Jeff

With an old tractor like this you will very often have grounding problems, you can get it even with new tractors. Run the ground wire right back to the point at which the ground wire from the battery fastens to, its safer that way and you will be sure it will work then.

I had the same problem when I wired my rear lights. Turned out there was rust and corrosion between the fender bracket and rear trumpet which prevented a good ground. To fix it, I unbolted the fenders from the trumpets and sanded a patch of bare metal where the two would meet. I coated the area with that electrical anticorrosion goop (cant remember what its called) and put everything back together. Havent had a problem since.

electrical anticorrosion goop ==> dielectric grease

I love the stuff and use it on every new electrical connection I make. :)
