The transmission-hydraulic fluid specified in your manual is a 90wt. straight mineral oil. This is a GL-1 Gear Lube. A TO-20 takes 6 gallons, so I suspect that your TO-30 will take at least 6 gallons. The oil is Massey Spec M1103 fluid and is available at Massey dealers for around $38.00 / 5 gallons.

The GL-1 oil is also available from NAPA auto parts stores as PN 65-205. and is $26.00 / 5 gallons. Note that they will probally have to get it in from a regional wearhouse as it is not a stock item. But they can have it in a day or too.

Also the oil is available from a Shell oil distributer as Shell Dentax brand. Look for an oil distributer in the yellow pages. Note this is not the gas stations.

The steering gear box takes the same oil as the rear transmission.

Hope this helps.
Jeff

Do an archive search on these topics and you'll get more info/opinions than you ever knew existed on these subjects! Your owners manual will tell you the spcs that you are looking for. You'll need a GL-1 fluid for the transmission/differential/hydraulic systems and the capacity is about five gallons. It all goes in the same filler on the transmission cover and it drains out of 2 or 3 obvious places under the tractor. It's hard to find GL-1 fluids and most manufacturers have a spec that fills the reqirement for this fluid. Just DON'T use rear axle fluid in your tractor. You can call your local dealer and get the equivalent spec for the hard to find GL-1. He may even have it. Hope this helps.
