Nebraska pull for TO35?

I have ordered an operator's manual from
AGCO, but was wondering in the meantime
if anyone knows how much a TO35 weighs
and what it pulled on a Nebraska test.
Sold my 8N as just too light - seems to me the Ferg looks a touch longer wheelbase
and ~25% heavier.

Also, I have two levers for the hydraulics
in front of the seat. One controls the 3PH
right now, the other one has a recent cap-off
fitting on it, so figures to be where the loader
(dismounted not too long ago) used to be connected. Trouble is, that second lever
won't move a bit. I would suspect its frozen
(and could be) but the machine hasn't been
sitting outside, and there's no sign of corrosion
on the outside. Is there bolt or pin you put
in place to 'lock out' loader operation for some reason? I have read the recent discussions
here about needing to brace the 3PH down to get good loader operation - is that when you
have two levers, or is that just when you're
using one lever to run both devices.

Hope this is clear (partly anyway), and
thanks for any help.

Hi Rockhead -

Welcome to spring!

Neb tests: 35 gas weighed 5156#, pulled 3414# max in 2nd. Max belt hp 33.24. 10.7 hp/hr per gal of fuel.

35 Diesel (3 cyl Perkins) 5909#, 3965#, 37.05 belt hp. 15.7 hp/hr per gal.

The 4 cyl Standard diesel horsepower is closer to the gas version.

The Neb folks added 1500 lb or so of weight for testing; this would put the "empty weight" of the gas tractor at about 3500#.

I switched from the 9N/8N/s to our first 3 cyl diesel (about '76) for the live PTO and position control on the 3 point, and the fuel saving really amazed me. Did the job faster, and seemed to take half the fuel.

The later 3 cyl Perkins (AD3-152 direct injection diesel) tests showed a further 10% fuel saving - still one of the most fuel efficient engines in service!

The three point linkage settles on all our Masseys. Haven't seen one yet which stays up. Nature of the beast - the lift cyl has rings like an engine piston rather than hydraulic cyl packing.

The left spool lever on the under-seat valve can do three things: 1) non-position control of the lift arms, 2) switch the oil flow from the side lever controls to the right lever on the valve bank (normal), or 3) operate another remote, with the lift arms locked.

I've not seen a lock on the right spool (but some might have one - I learn something new about these old girls most every day!). My guess is either a hydraulic lock (try removing the outlet port cap(s) and the back cover on the right spool) or something jamming the control lever or internal spool.

If it's internal, it will have to come apart, if you need to use it.

GREAT tractors!

Hope this helps.
