Last weeksnd I drained and cleaned the transmission case of my MF65. I hit a brick wall finding GL-1 lube. I did find out that Wal-marts NO longer carry the GL-1 oil. What they carry is a 20W-40 oil with adatives to meet MF-1129A...NOT MF-1103. Wal-mart oil is manufactured by Quaker State. Pennsoil-Quaker State was bought out by Shell oil last year and they no longer manufacture a GL-1 lube.

Shell- oil does manufacture a GL-1 under the name DENTAX this is avalable at a Shell Oil Distributor. MF also has GL-1 under part number M1103 - as reported here many times.

Locals and prices in the Southern Ohio area are:

MF1103 - Washington CH MF Dealer- Mayer -2 1/2 gal. for $24.59
Georgetown MF Dealer- 5 gal. $37.00

Shell Dentax
From Hartly Oil - locations in Washington CH, Wilmington, Hillsboro, London etc. 5 gallons for $35.17 (740-335-0690 ask for Randy)

Hope this is of interest.
Jeff

Dan,

In my search I went to NAPA all they had was 85-475 and 85-402 which was the M1129 and R&O stuff. The guy looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about 65-205... In store help is the best ain't it.

However, As I was writing this reply, before I said I can't get 65-205 at NAPA, I called the local store and .... Can get it out of Indianapolis for $26.29 5/gal. GL-1 90wt. minerial oil..... .

You just saved me $30.00 as I am doing a MF65 and my TE20.

Thanks
Jeff

TSC sell a product made by Traveller called "Ford Tractor Transmission Fluid". It is marked GL1 on the containers and says "for use in all final drives, hydraulic systems and manual transmissions of Ford tractors manufactured 1939-1952". 5 gallon buckets are about $30.00, and 2 gallon jugs are $16.00. Hope that this is helpful.

Tom,

I am not sure the last time you looked, but the TSC oil is now in the $35-$36 range for a 5/gal. At least here in Ohio.

Like all of corporate America, TSC implements across the board price hikes to increase their profits. i.e. rattle can paint was $3.95 now $4.15 a can. Shift boots were $3.99 now $4.50. etc.
