(I'm posting for Brother in Law with 8N problem)

I originally posted this on the 8N site, but it was suggested I post it here also. THKS.

I've taken out the pto shaft about three times now and even had a mechanic come out to help me figure it out. Seems like the specs on the shaft is about 30 7/8" length with 1 3/8" splines
and the old part is only 30" long - it works (the old one) but is buggered up on the outside coupling side and the bearing surfaces where the seals go are bad (that's why I pulled it in the first place to replace seals that were leaking).
The mechanic tried to heat them up and pound em off -- wrong! Marred up things even more. I should have had them just cut them off but no, I decided to buy a new shaft with seal assembly and now it won't work either. Guys at Ford say it
should work!!!! Right! Maybe I'm dealing with a hybrid situation with a 8N motor and jubilee body?

Any suggestions or hints greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
Ron

My catalog says the 9-2-8n shaft is 30 7/8 inches long with 1 3/8 spline.Same shaft as for TE-TO 20 an 30
Book also says NAA shaft is 30 3/16 inches long. I would think if the have NAA rear housing there would be some #'s or date code that might tell you something. Sorry can't be of much help
