Piston Oil Ring on TE20

I bought an engine overhaul kit from YT for my TE20. In a box containing Engine Sleeve Assembly the ring kit says to place the three piece oil ring (waffle and two rings) in the third slot down on the piston. I have always found the three piece set to go on the bottom slot. Has anyone encountered this before? I called Alpha Tractor Service and they said this is the way the rings go the piston in this set.

Ray, there should only be one ring land in which the oil rings will fit. the compression rings should have much narrower groves. Good luck, have fun!! If there is a lower ring that is narrow it's probably what I've known as a wiper ring.
