I think my new (to me) '53 TO30 is a great one. I'll be attending to its mechanical needs first, then restore it over time. The first thing on the list is tires. The back rims are two different sizes and one of them appears to be too corroded to reuse. I need to find out the OEM rear rim size as well as the OEM tire sizes (front and rear). If anyone has that info handy I'd sure appreciate it, or just an opinion as to the best reference manual for such things.

The rears can be 10 x 28 or 11 x 28. Most came with 10 x 28 with a tire size of 11.2 x 28. The fronts were either 4.5 x 16 or 6 x 16. I have Fergusons with both sizes of front tires but 10 x 28 rears.

Thanks for your reply. It confirms what I was gathering from other posts. I went out and finally found the sizes on the old tires I have. The rears are Firestone 12x28s ("12", not "12.4"), but one is on an 11" rim and one is on a 10" so the tires don't look the same. The fronts are 6.00x16 and I'll stick with those.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on a comparison between the 11.2 and 12.4 sizes to help me decide which to go with. The 12s seem to raise the rear a bit so the tractor doesn't look level. Also, the rims were reversed, so as they're mounted now there is a 5-inch+ gap between the tires and the fenders. I don't know if the 12s width made that a necessity or it was done just to increase stability or maybe to provide better implement clearance. In your experience with the Ferguson, does the 11.2 on a 10" rim look "right" for the tractor?

You will have a hard time finding 12x28s now. 12.4 or 11.2 are standard tire sizes now-a-days. 11s were standard on the 10" rims. So in my mind they look "correct."
