Shifter on TO-30

Hi-
My TO-30 recently started "sticking" in gear. The fix was fairly easy...I removed the top of the trans where the shifter is, moved it back into position, then replaced the top and away I went.

It still sticks in gear sometimes if I don't shift gently. The ball on the business end of my stick shift looks like a ball with square sides. Should it be round? Or is it supposed to have two flat sides? Thanks for any info.

No, it is supposed to have two flat sides.

The problem you have is common to many of us, andis caused by vertical slack in the gear lever mechanism - with thought and care you can 'fix' it so it doesn't do it any more, but you will need to be reasonably skilled with a welder and angle grinder, and have a good box of 'stuff' to call on for parts/bits.

At the end of the day, personal choice comes into it as to whether or not you spend the time and effort sorting the problem out.
