In searching the past posts I see that many people recommend non detergent oil for a to30. The operators manual on page 22 says that detergent oils offer advantages not obtained with regular grade oils, they hold particles in suspension so the filter can remove them. I was wondering why allot of folks like the non detergent? I also found that one post said that the right filter for a to30 was a Wix 51010 and another post said the right one was a Fram C134PL. They seem to be different sizes. Can anyone tell me which one is correct? The operators manual just says to use a Ferguson Filter.

Napa 1010, Wix 51010,Hastings LF 130 and Fram CH 134PL are all correct #'s for TO 30.
As for oil, I use detergent in TO 20 but I had it apart years ago to overhaul so is clean inside.

Use the oil recommended in you owners manual. The non-detergent argument is that was the oil recommended in the owners manual (TO-20). Basic consensus is if it has been running on non-detergent then continue. If it has been rebuilt used newer oils. And there is a strong crowd to use only newer oils.

Bottom line read the post and decide what you want.

As for the filter. If you have a NAPA store they can look it up and get one in a day or two.
