I changed the crankcase oil in my TEA 2085 recently but today found a small leak around the oil filter element encasement. To make a long story shorter, I was able to fix the leak but now can't remember where the oil should be on the dipstick. My original dipstick has 3 lines across
it, one is 1/4 " from the bottom, the second line is 1 and1/4" up from the first line and the third line is 1 and1/4 up from that. I think the oil level was between the second and third line when I completed the oil change. Would someone please let me know where the oil should be on the stick?Did a search but nothing was clear to me. Thanks Paul F B

The middle line just means "you're half way to needing to fill up".
Top line is full.

Thanks Jim for the quick response. I have never gotten the oil level up to the top line in past oil changes. I do put in the recommended 12 pints and also add oil to the filter element. What would, do you think, be the underlying reason for this? Paul F B

Thanks fellow Ferie lovers. I think I will fill it to between the lines and take more care in future oil changes to note the exact spot it reachs on the stick. It is always possible that it is a replaced dipstick. Thanks for helping me out. Paul F B

Perhaps you don't have the original dipstick?
Or maybe the half way mark is fine, but please don't go above the top one?
Not really sure; I just keep pouring it in till it gets to the top line and have never paid attention to how much I put in.

if i fill mine up to the top line it loses it somewheres, it doesn,t burn any, i always run mine half way between the two top lines.

You are correct in how you fill it up...It takes exactly 13 imp pints from empty including the filter. I would think that you dont have the correct dipstick, they never did one without correct marking, when you poured in the 13 pints it was at the mark exactly....but as long as you know about it its fine, only you know where it goes to on your dipstick though.
