TO30 oil pump pickup tube

How tight should the oil pickup tube fit into the oil pump housing? Mine seems like it does not tighten down - it seems there should be something between the flared end of the tube and the nut. Is there something I am missing?

Also, should there be "safety wire" on the main bolts?

Joel, had my oil pick-up tube off 6-7 months ago. I'm almost positive mine had some sort of plastic or rubber cone shaped bushing on the ends to seal it when the compression nut is tightened down. Don't know where to get such a thing, maybe an Auto Parts store can help you out. Need a good seal or the oil pump might suck air instead of oil.
My main bearing bolts were wire tied together when I tore it down to rebuild, so I installed new wire when I reinstalled my crank and new bearings. Pretty sure my manual mentioned the wire too. I didn't use anything special on the wire, whatever steel wire I had laying around the garage that would fit thru the holes in the bolts.
