TO-30 Loose Clutch Pedal

I loosened the clamp to see if I could adjust the pedal travel to get more push on the clutch to break it free and now I have no tension on the pedal. I ended up performing tractor split (absolutely no fun)to unstick clutch plate and examined spring and shaft to be sure they were tight and attached. I think I am missing something simple. The tractor is back together but I still have no tension on the clutch pedal. Help please.

I agree with Ray, having had the tractor split, you probably saw the springs on the throw-out arm. If those springs were attached, and not laying on the bottom of the bell housing, you should have tension on the clutch pedal. I replaced my clutch disk last Winter, had to adjust the clutch pedal as Ray describes. I found a big phillips-head screw driver worked good for me to turn and hold the clutch shaft that is coming out of the bell housing. Loosen the clamp on the clutch pedal, stick the screw driver in the hole on the clutch shaft and turn it. It is kind-of tricky, you have to hold the clutch shaft in position, against the spring tension, while you tighten down the clamp bolt for the clutch pedal. Good Luck !

If the clutch worked prior to you loosening the bolt this may help. Did you follow the procedure in the owners manual? If you just loosened the bolt without holding the shaft from turning by using a rod in the hole in the end of the shaft, it may have spun around counterclockwise 1/2 turn. Use a rod or punch in the hole and turn the shaft clockwise until resistance is felt(against the throwout bearing) and hold it there; now position the clutch pedal arm so there is 3/16" clearance between the clutch arm and the radius arm bracket.
