These people have that chain adjuster in their list of parts for a 23c engine...priced at $65.74. the last update was last year so it may have increased.

You are welcome. A lot of the parts on that site are Sparex...if you see the part number and it starts..DS***** if you remove th "D" then that is the Sparex number and you may be able to go to a more local Sparex dealer. Don't forget you can get a lot of parts for your tractor from this site too. Click on the make of your tractor in the grey stripe at the top of the page

I was told a couple of years ago they were available from British Victoria (?) 1 800 255-0088 for $8.95.

Apparently fitted to a Triumph sports car with the Standard engine.

If it's the same as on the Triumph then that is one source (it's Victoria British really).
Another is the Roadster Factory, and I think the biggest is Moss Motors in California. They are all around the same price.

A 23c engine is a diesel .....On the petrol engine in the tractor they dont use a tensioner, maybe they do in the car version, I don't know.

Yes they do use a tensioner in the car. I heard it mentioned someplace that the timing chain was interchangeable but I can't see it since it's so much sloppier in the car. I have meant to check this out but never got around to it.
Well, I did count 29 links on the tractor one. I have a Triumph engine sitting on my garage floor but it's been there so long I don't notice it anymore. Maybe one day when I trip over it it will remind me to check this.
Because, of course, the world needs this information....
