Howdy I'm new to the site and tractors and need a little help. I've just aquired a Ferguson TE-20 with the Continential Z-120 engine and need to find out what oil to use in it. Also where can I get a manual for it?

Thanks in advance

John

Hi ... just saw your query about manuals and thought this site might help short term:

Link

I saw this and have gleaned a large amount of info from it. Somebody was kind enough to scan the whole TO-20 Service manual.
Hope it helps

Barry and Jeff thanks for the info! I wish I knew what year model for sure but best I can figure out it's between 46-48, Was the Z120 engine only put in during those years? The name plate is so worn I can only read some of it but sure it was made in England.

Jeff I'm in Atlanta.

Hi my name is Bruce and I am a new player in the world of tractors and this site!!

I have 5 acres in a beautiful place called Collangatta Mountain, NSW, Australia and have the opportunity to buy a Massie Ferganson TEA-20 through a friend of a friends Mother!! I have been told it along with a slasher is in good condition but unfortunately I am unable to view it for it is several hours away and any details have been a little sketchy.

I would really appreciate it if somebody had a picture they could email so I could get an idea of what I can expect and any general info; ie are they normally petrol or diesel. We are mainly plannning to use it for slashing and light duties. I love the site and look forward to hearing from somebody soon.
Many Thanks Bruce

Morning John
There has been lots of conversation over the years regarding what type of oil to use. I will let the others comment on that. Myself I have been using 10W-40 in my 1952 TEA-2085 for the last 3 years and have had no problem. There will be comments on detergent or non detergent oil. I could never understand this, but maybe someone will explain the difference. I change it summer and fall. As far as manuals go, I bought all of mine ( Operators, Parts & Service ) through this site. Money well spent I might add. The total cost was around $150 US for all 3. Welcome to this site. Its a wealth of information as you will soon find out.
