clutch problem

I have a 1952 TO30. I recently installed a new clutch disc, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. I installed the clutch disc, bolted the pressure plate to the fly wheel, and then bolted the tractor back together. When I push down on the clutch pedal, it would move down and come to a complete stop and would not move at all. I can tell the throw-out bearing is contacting the pressure plate fingers, but they will not move. I broke the tractor in half again and noticed that the fingers on the pressure plate seemed to be pulled in all the way toward the fly wheel. It looks like the fingers are moved in so close to the fly wheel that they will not disengage the clutch. I noticed that the springs in the pressure plate look like they are compressed a lot and won't allow any more movement. I don't know what else to do. I have rechecked to make sure that I have the right parts. The clutch is in correctly; the short side is toward the motor, the long side is to the transmission. Everything looks the same as when I took out the old one. Need help!!

Michael, if you have a clutch rebuilder in your area they can check clearances for you at no charge or minimal charge. Another thought is, are you sure you have the correct t/o bearing? If you have your old parts, match them up. I once installed a clutch assy. and had a pressure plate that was set up wrong. It presented a very similar problem. Good luck, have fun!!
