I have a TO20 that I pull a 72 inch 3 blade finish mower with. It works pretty hard mowing 8 acres. In hot weather I can only mow for about a half hour befor it dies and will not start. The temperature gage is still in the green zone a little past center and it does not boil over. If I let it sit for about 20 minuted It starts right up and the process repeats its self. I assume it's gas vaporization at the carb, but what can I do to fix it?

Does it seam to run out of fuel? Vapor lock is a good way of describing the condition, however it msy not be where you thing it is. The fuel is a gravety feed system and the fuel tank needs to breath. There is a hole in the fuel tank cap. This can become clogged and cause a vacumn in the tank preventing fuel from flowing. 20 minutes is about the right time as reported by the Ford N users who have expierenced the same condition.

Check to verify that you have an origional fuel tank cap and that the breather hole is clear.

Do the simple things first.

Jeff

If the fuel tank is dirty, line restricted by a kink, sediment bowl needs cleaned, carb screen dirty, float bowl contains anything other than fuel,or carb adjustments set too lean, you may be right. The carb must be adjusted while the engine is under load, otherwise the engine will be running way too lean because Harry Ferguson tractors(per owners manual) use the fuel system for additional engine cooling. Other items that may contribute to your problem are: ignition coil weak, condenser weak.
