I have a TO-30 tractor that has a bad crankshaft. In my seach for a used crank, I found a used complete TO-20 engine that I can buy cheap. My questions are:
Can this be done? Has anybody out their done it? What kind of problem does it present? Will it be drasically underpowered?

I don't think it's a problem. They are esentially the same tractor. I've heard of TO-20s with TO-30 engines. I believe the block is basically the same. As far as under powered, I don't think so. I have a TO-20 and I don't think it needs 5 more horsepower. Traction is the big thing. You normally break traction before you run out of horses. I doubt if you'll ever know the difference.

YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEM CHANGING THE ENGINES. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE 9 CI.

I have a TO30 (Z129) motor in a TO20 tractor, I also have a TO20 tractor with a regular TO20 motor. As far as horsepower, I really can't tell the difference. I'd like to find another TO20 motor to replace the TO30 block, If you find another complete Z120 motor, please let me know. I have 2 Z120's and 2 Z129's and they are all four cracked.
