Still being the new guy, humor me if you've all heard this question a zillion times; What differenciates a 'TO-35' from a 'TO-35 Special'? I didn't even know there was such a thing until I caught a post about a 'Special'. Trying to dig through the archives didn't tell me too much. I also glanced through my owners manual, but must be skipping over the part that talks about the differences. Dual Clutch? Was that one item on a Special? My '57 has the dual clutch, I just thought that was standard. Any info would be appreciated!!

I have a 1959 TO35 Special and was wondering the same thing. Mine has a single stage clutch, a separate 2 spool hydo lever under the seat on the right side that may have been installed by another owner and it only has a temp and oil pressure gage. I gues this was their idea of a "Special". Other than that the tractor works fine and starts great.

In 1958 they started differentiating the model line with "Special" and "Deluxe" versions. In 1954-1957 almost all of the same options were available, just no designations. Your owners manual must actualy be from 1957 or before. My manual (bought off ebay) is a later version and discusses the differences between them. I can't remember all of them, but the special had a single stage clutch, meaning the hydraulics/PTO were not live. I think the Special did not get as many dash gauges (no tractormeter?). Can't remember anything else right now.
