Looking at A TO30 tomorrow - Have questions?

I'll be looking at a pretty decent TO30 tomorrow. Not sure if I want a TO30 since I have been waiting for a TO35. Anyway, its close. The TO30 is said to have been used to maintain 8 acres and comes with a snow plow. Its had a value job and is described to run well. Rear tires are so-so and painted like a TO35. Asking price is $2500. Anything in particular I should watch for other then the normal things?

i also like to take a look and see how the tractor is wired. i recently looked at a TO-30 that the owner had re-wired. i couldn't make head or tails of how he had the thing running. home done wiring can drive ya nuts if it fails!!!!

Things I'd look for , first check dip stick look for water in oil then run the tractor till the temp is up and normal, check weep hole cotter pin under tractor for leaks, then while still running remove oil cap and look for blow by, then look for bubbles in raditor. Check lift. Personally I never buy a tractor till I do a compression test but thats just me. check front end play(wheel bearing and king pins), then grab top of rear tires and rock back and forth and in and out and feel for play there. Lastly look for oil leaks at rear wheels.

This should give you a good Idea of what kinda shape its in....I have a 30 and 35....good luck with yours

Since you have both (TO30 and TO35), do you prefer one over the the other?

I'm just a fergy nut, but yes the 35 is the better tractor.
