My t o 30 has approximatlly 15 p s i oil pressure when its hot ( used oil ) is this normal ? also what weight oil is recomended ? detergent or non ?My hydraulics will raise and lower but wont hold stationary at any height is this normal? thanks in advance.

My Ferguson Manual says that Idle oil pressure (hot) should be 15 psi and at 2200 rpm, the oil pressure (hot) should be 25-30 psi.

Yes, 15 psi is okay. An oil change should be made if it hasn't been done in a while. straight 30 wt. is good. People debate over non-det. vs. detergent oils. Your choice. Position control is not inherent in these tractors but can be added with one of several systems available. do a search on position control as this has been discussed at lenght latly.\

Be advised the oil pump pressure relief valve is set to 35psi, so the pressures given in Jerry/Mt's reply is for a new engine. Fifteen psi at operating temp and working rpm's is fairly normal for a used engine. If the valve rocker arms don't make any more noise at idle than at working rpms, your engine should be fine. I use non-detergent 30W30 HD motor oil in summer and 20W20 HD non-detergent oil in winter per the owners manual recommendations.
