Price Ranges for TO-30s and TO-35s?

What would one expect to pay for a decent TO-30 or TO-35? Any reason to prefer one model over the other?

i love ferguson TO tractors, but be warned, the engine blocks are easily cracked (between the cylinders) by overheating or low anti freeze content. i have no way of proving this but i estimate one out of every three TO engines has a cracked block and there is no way of detecting a cracked block unless you tear apart the engine. over the past few years i have bought a TO-20 and a TO-35, both had cracked blocks. i didn't know it until i put in anti freeze and it went into the engine oil. incidentally; both tractors ran well and had good compression!

You mention cracked blocks. How are parts supplies for these, especially items like blocks and such?

LeRoy, having just purchased a TO-35, I have to remind you to watch farm auctions coming up in your area. I live in Nebraska so there's always a farm auction around! I got my TO-35, in GREAT shape, very, VERY well maintained, for $2,000.00. I ended up getting a lot of implements for it also for an extra $500.00.

Dana,

Saw a previous thread where when you bought it. There are some auctions around but probably not like NE. I saw a pretty nice TO-30 fairly close to me but not sure if I want that or the TO-35/MF35 or should I say it a Ford 600/800. Leaning toward a Ferguson if possible. Guess I'll wait and maybe sell a JD of mine to defer the cost a bit.

LeRoy,
I own a TO35 so I am preferential to them. All the Ferguson tractors are a good bet, though. If you find a TO35 deluxe model, you will get a two-stage clutch. This means there is live PTO and hydraulics. The TO35 has a hi/lo gearbox, giving you 6 forward and 2 reverse speeds. And the TO35 has a few more horsepower than the TO30. In my area a decent TO35 deluxe goes for $3000 - $4000.

I recently purchased a to-35 deluxe.I have been searching around the web to find a site where I can find as much info on this model as possible.I seem only to find bits here and there.I am leaveing for Florida in a few days and I was wondering if any knows if their are any dealers or other places in the Disney area where i could find parts.I need a new or new to me tachometer and cable.Trying to bring the tractor back to where it used to be.Thanks

You can order a nice tractormeter off of this site (see link below). I just bought this and it looks and works great. Make sure to get the right one (there are two choices, diesel or gas engine). For the cable, just go to your nearest Massey Ferguson dealer. I ordered mine from them, cost about $18 total.

I do like the idea of the 6 speeds hence leaning that way for now but saw a nice TO-30 and it has me wondering. Seems I see more TO-30s for sale.

I suspect you are in PA? Mid State?

LeRoy, I am in the NW corner of the state, near Lake Erie. I also see more TO20's and TO30's than TO35's in my area. Keep looking, you will find one. If you're not set on a "true" Ferguson, there is also the MF35, which is basically the same as the TO35. The TO and MF 35 had other neat options, like power steering, power adjustable rims.
