Here's the situation:
My neighbor's TO-30 ran well when parked last fall.
Unfortunately it sat outside all winter and now will not start.
We have air and fuel.
Distributor cap, points and condensor are clean and dry.
Battery is fully charged.
Spark is very weak and engine will not fire.
Where do I go from here?

Make sure that the points are clean and set properly, make sure all the primary circuit connections are clean, and make sure that secondary wires in the distributor cap are not corroded. With the points closed and the key on you should have 4-5 volts at the upstream end of the coil to ground. Finally check the the distributor is not plum wore out. The bushings and the shaft wear and the radial play in the shafts and bushings can get excessive. With the points closed push on the shaft radially and see if the points open, If they do, your distributor needs rebuilding ($100 -www.philbingroup.com)Hope this helps.

hi mark my to-30 sits outside also and sometimes it will not start and i have to clean the points especially when it has rained or is wet out.

Thanks for the help guys!
We pull-started the TO-30 today, and once she "caught", she ran well.
Let her heat up good and she seems more co-operative.
I did clean the points too, and it seems to have helped.
'Ol Fergie starts now!
The owner is leaning towards a 12 volt conversion.
Any thoughts on that?
