My neighbor has a t-20 tractor. We have been looking for a new cap and rotor. The cap has a srew on style wire. We have not been able to find the parts locally. Does anyone know where you can find these parts? Or, does anyone know if a distributor from a Ford 8N or such will work?

If it is LUCAS it should have a 1/2 moon notch in the bottom of the cap. From my experience with British cars most all caps are similar, some wires exit from the top, some from the side. If it's Delco there's no notch, only a little "tab notch". In that case a dist. cap from a 4 cyl 63 Chev. NOVA or any early Triumph Spitfire will work. (this also goes for the points and condenser) Good luck, have fun!!

Are you saying a Spitfire cap will fit a Delco dizzy? Will wonders never cease...

Jim W... Far as I know all 4 cyl. DELCO distributors share the same cap, rotor, condenser and point set. When I had my English car shop I replaced spit. parts with NOVA parts. My to20 appears exactly the same. Hope this is useul.

Just surprised a Spit didn't have Lucas electrics. Did you stick a Delco dizzy in it, or did it come that way, or did the Delco cap fit the Lucas dizzy?
Curious, will never put this knowledge to use,
Jim

Maybe I can confuse this more. the Triumph Spitfire has Delco dist.from factory and same cap as TO 20 . The Delco batt. conversion for Farmalls from magneto uses same cap also. The Nova I thought should of had a cap that was held in position by 2 screws but am not certain on that.

Jim is correct about the cap being Lucas. I don't know if the Lucas equipted TE 20 with Continental engine takes the same cap as the Standard Motor Co. engined TEA 20 . The Continental engined 20 has the oil filter inside the oil pan and is removed via a big cover on the bottom of pan.
Good luck.

A cap from an 8N will not work. The cap you are looking at is made by Lucas and you can get them from a MF dealer. They are now supplied aftermarket by Vapormatic and run around $40 Cdn. You may find a tractor dealer for some other brand of tractors that sources through Vapormatic, and if so they will be able to get it for you. Just look up the part number on the website and give it to them and you'll get what you need.
The cap comes with the screw on parts as well as the little brass washers that go on the end of the wires. (I think it's best to solder those on so they don't pop out and get lost some day.)
