As mentioned before, I got a "deal" on a nearly new 4' John Deere mower, less shaft. Thought I'd found one locally, but not so. Anyone out there have a used one? Re-building is not a problem. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks all!!

Mr Chapp...good luck on finding a used PTO shaft for your mower. TSC has them but their about hundred and a half or a cow and a calf each last time I looked.
Funny thing happened to me once...I found a good one lying on the road...took it home and layed it in the shop. Later that same day a fellow came in the shop wanting me to make him up one. I said...you mean like this and handed him the one I found...he had the funniest look on his face...wanting to know where I got it at. I said up there on the road where you lost it. He sure was tickled to get it back. I'll bet he put a wire on it after that. Fred OH

Thanks for the story, I enjoyed it. I just feel like there's someone out there who has an old extreemly rusted and over repaired deck, who will sell the shaft.

I've made a few of these, both ends. Our local NAPA dealer sells tractor parts and carrys the ends. I believe the solid square shaft is 1 1/8" cold roll and the tube is 1 1/4" id with a 1/4" wall. I would think if you could find the parts and a person to weld (if you don't) you could do it for less than $150. Or maybe i'm just not charging enough..... .
