what is that cork plug on the flywheel?

I was scrapping down about 20 years worth of crud off my flywheel and hit a cork plug on the clutch side. I didn't see anything in my manual about that. What the heck is it for? Oh yeah, this is on a TO-20.

it may be the hole that shows your timing mark.

The color you want for the castings is Flint Gray.

I have a TO20 ser#8 it has a cork plug, clutch side in the bell housing about 1in in dia. never did figure out what its for. I would be interested in your ser# could you email it to me. Scott
