Jim, I talked to you last fall in regards to a TEA2085 I purchased. I am just restoring it now that I have some time on my hands. I was wondering where you purchase your parts? Is there some place close to Bolton? I want to get an oil filter.

Hi Larry,
Parts are from a mixed bag of sources. Parts you might consider "frequently required" are readily available through aftermarket suppliers such as Sparex or Vapormatic (do a search for these on the web). They don't sell direct to the consumer though so you need to find someone who deals with them.
In my case both my local MF dealer, and my local UAP/NAPA can source parts from one or the other of these, so I would recommend starting there. Due to having bought many car parts over the years I know the guys at UAP here well enough that they will spend a bit of time hunting for me and can get a surprising amount of stuff - because, they have been around for a long time, we are in the country, and there are many 2085s in the area.
I just happened to stumble across the fact that Canadian Tire lists the oil filter. You could try there; they might get it right. Further, specifically regarding oil filters, I favour the Wix brand. If you go to their website, you can look up your tractor, and take their number to your local UAP, as their filters are actually made by Wix.
For other parts it is more of a challenge. I was very fortunate to come into a parts tractor which has solved a lot of problems. Bigger parts that are not the type that wear, you will have to get used. Fawcett Tractor Supply (I think in St. Mary's) is good for this.
Finally if you are doing an engine rebuild there are certain parts for old Triumph cars that can be used, which are readily available. (Get back in touch if you end up going that deep.)
Jim
